Santolina has regular shows (all of which include “Fancy Dress” or “Tack and Turnout”). These are a great opportunity to have fun while testing your skills.
Our in-house shows are open to anyone who rides at Santolina, provided they are eligible and aged 4 and over (all entrants are accepted subject to management approval).
We hold two different types of show: Showjumping and Gymkhanas.
Showjumping
We hold a number of showjumping events throughout the course of the showjumping season, this includes a Summer Show and the Annual show.
Each show has 4 classes:
- Beginners
- Pre-Novice
- Novice
- Topscore (with handicap scoring system)
- The Jump (aka Chase Me Charlie)
The Annual show includes a further 3 classes. All entrants to any showjumping event must have ridden at Santolina Stables before and only enter classes according to their riding capability.
These shows are a great opportunity for our riders to practice the skills they have learned in their lessons and gives them the chance to ride in a competitive environment without the hassle of owning their own horse/pony.
More information will be posted on our Facebook page as events draw near but do feel free to contact us at any point if you’d like further information.
Mounted Games
Our other style of event is our annual Mounted Games tournament. Training sessions are held weekly, read more on the Mounted Games page.
Gymkhanas
Gymkhanas are held from time to time, so keep an eye out on Facebook!
A gymkhana consists of rider and horse racing within a lane to win each race, the simplest of which can be the walking race or the slow race leading on to the more complex races such as the egg and spoon race! The winners scores in each race are totalled up at the end of the day and prizes are awarded to the overall Gymkhana Champion and Reserve Champion.
Anyone is eligible to enter the gymkhana even if they have not ridden before as long as they are aged 4 and over. More information is posted on Facebook closer to each event but do feel free to contact us at any point if you’d like further information.
